We're two friends from Florida who grew up together at a small church where one of our dads was the pastor. Our journey to creating Safe Space™ began from personal necessity - living with general anxiety disorder and PTSD made navigating online spaces increasingly difficult as algorithms pushed more hostile, triggering content into our feeds.

We recognized how these same algorithms contribute to spreading fear and prejudice based on race, sexuality, gender, religion, class, disability, political beliefs, and other aspects of human identity - creating harmful pipelines that many users have no choice but to consume. Living in the countryside and pursuing our interests in music, we decided to create technology that gives people more choice over what they see online.

Our background in technology led us to recognize a simple truth: the internet works better when users can customize what they see. We're guided by the conviction that everyone should be able to engage with content that aligns with their preferences and values.
